About My Greece Guide

An independent, English-language guide to travelling in Greece: which island to pick, how to get between them, where to stay and what is worth your time once you are there.

What the site covers

The questions that come up when you plan a trip to Greece, and the practical ones that only come up once you are on the way:

How we check what we publish

Greece changes its timetables, prices and opening hours every season, and most of what you find online about them is several years old. So we go back to the source rather than to other travel sites:

  • Ferry times and durations come from the operators’ own timetables, and airport details from the airport and the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Entry fees and opening hours of archaeological sites come from the Greek Ministry of Culture.
  • Prices are given in euros, as you will pay them in Greece, with the year they were checked.
  • Every guide shows the date it was last updated, and we revise pages when a season’s schedules come out.

Photos come from Pexels and Wikimedia Commons, credited whenever the licence asks for it. We do not use AI-generated pictures of places: if we cannot find a real photo of somewhere, the page goes without one.

How the site makes money

The guide is free to read and carries no display advertising. It is funded by affiliate links: when you book a tour on GetYourGuide, a hotel on Hotels.com, a rental car on DiscoverCars or travel insurance with SafetyWing through one of our links, we earn a commission. You pay the same price either way.

Partners do not pay to appear, do not see our pages before they go live and have no say in what we recommend. When the best option is something no partner sells, such as a public bus, a village taverna or a free beach, that is what we tell you. The details are in the legal notice.

What we do not do

We are a guide, not a travel agency. We do not sell trips, run tours or handle bookings, and we cannot step in with an operator on your behalf: for anything you booked through a partner, their customer service will sort it out much faster than we can.

Who is behind it

My Greece Guide is an independent site published by Hugo Rodrigues (see the legal notice). It is the English-language counterpart of vivreengrece.fr, a French guide to living in Greece.
